Zurich
Zurich – undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe, even today it retains the charm of the 19th century. It is not only the most populous but also the largest financial, economic, industrial, and cultural center of the entire country. Thanks to its numerous banking institutions, Zurich is today the wallet of the world. Money here is not only stored in underground bunkers under the streets and squares… but they are also spent on the surface, and not just like that, but with taste. Walking along the storefronts on the quays of Limmat or on the famous Bahnhofstrasse, the main thoroughfare of the city is a favorite pastime of the Nouveau riche, local residents, and visiting tourists.

But this city is famous not only for its expensive shops. The right-bank part of the city invites you for a walk. There is one large pedestrian area. Musicians perform at small venues, and artists of various genres show their skills… There are wine shops and many bars, and shops in the basements of picturesque medieval houses sell the most fashionable clothes, you can even get tattoos here.

Zurich combines the features of a modern, developed city of the XXI century with the comfort and quietness of a village in the countryside. It is known for its cultural attractions: old churches such as the Grossmunster and Fraumunster with stained glass windows by Marc Chagall, art galleries with fine collections, including Chagall, Miro, and Picasso, and museums of all sorts and for all tastes. This includes the famous Schauspielhaus (which preserved German drama throughout the Second World War) and other small but noteworthy scenes. Zurich has a vibrant and diverse nightlife, from jazz bars to popular discos and cabaret shows. Zurich is also a city of parks and gardens, with a particularly delightful botanical garden featuring 15,000 plant species, including particularly rare ones from New Caledonia and South-West Africa. The University of Zurich is the largest university in Switzerland, and many of its graduates, such as Albert Einstein and Karl Alex Muller, have won the Nobel Prize in Physics, chemistry, and medicine.

Lake Zurich
In summer, the lake is the center of the most interesting and significant events. The surrounding embankment with its ancient trees and lawns for picnics, with legendary baths and beaches, with music and dancing, with yachts and swans, stretches for several kilometers, and the holiday seems endless. Outside the city, the hilly shores of the thirty-kilometer-long lake are densely built up with luxurious mansions and villas. From the pleasure boat, you can not only see one of the most expensive coasts of Europe but also get off on a romantic green island with an ancient chapel.

Grossmunster
This Romanesque and Gothic cathedral contains two three-story towers and is located on a terrace above the Limmatquai, on the right bank.

Craftsman Guild House
One of the most famous craftsman guild houses in the city. Since 1752, the house has been part of the Swiss National Museum.

Lindenhof or Linden Court
The square offers a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the Limmat River.

Museum of Fine Arts
One of the most important art museums in Europe is dedicated mainly to the 19th and 20th centuries, although there are paintings and sculptures from ancient times.

Rietberg Museum
The Rietberg Museum is housed in the neoclassical Villa Vezendok and features exhibits ranging from Cambodian Khmer sculptures and the art of jade Chinese tombs to Japanese masks and Tibetan bronze. The exhibition is complemented by a collection of Japanese printed publications, works of art from the Middle East, Tibet, and America, paintings from the Far East, a collection of Swiss masks, and Flemish and Armenian carpets.

Urania Observatory
You can look at the stars, planets, and galaxies through the large Zeiss telescope, which weighs 20 tons.

Town Hall
Zurich’s outstanding Baroque building dates from 1694-98.

The collection of E. G. Buehrle
The treasures of this collection are most popular thanks to the works of French Impressionists, including Monet, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Gauguin, Degas, Renoir and Manet.

Fraumunster
The main attraction of the Fraumünster is the five stained glass windows – each with its own color theme-created by Marc Chagall in 1970.

St. Peter’s Church Peter
St. Peter’s Church Petra was built in the 13th century on the left bank south of the Lindenhof – it is the oldest church in Zurich.

Swiss National Museum
This museum offers a grand overview of the culture and history of the Swiss people. Its collection contains works on religious themes, including 16th-century glass from Tanikon Monastery and frescoes from Mustair Church.
