Tehran is the capital city of Iran, a country located in Western Asia. Tehran is the largest city in Iran and serves as the political, cultural, and economic center of the country. It is situated in the north-central part of Iran, at the foothills of the Alborz Mountains. Here are some key facts about Tehran:

  1. Population: Tehran is one of the most populous cities in the Middle East, with a population of over 8 million people as of my last knowledge update in September 2021. The metropolitan area has a much larger population.

  3. Economy: Tehran is a major economic hub in Iran. It is home to numerous industries, including manufacturing, technology, and finance. The Tehran Stock Exchange is one of the largest in the region.
  4. Culture: The city is known for its cultural diversity and historical landmarks. It has numerous museums, art galleries, and theaters, including the National Museum of Iran and the Golestan Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  6. Transportation: The city has an extensive public transportation system, including a metro system, buses, and taxis. Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport is the main gateway to the city for international travelers.
