  1. Parque de las Leyendas: Located in the district of San Miguel, Parque de las Leyendas is Lima’s largest zoo and one of its most popular recreational areas. It features a diverse collection of animals native to Peru, including pumas, condors, and various Amazonian species. The park also includes botanical gardens, archaeological ruins, and a museum that showcases the country’s natural and cultural history.
  2. El Malecón: Lima’s coastline is lined with a series of beautiful parks and promenades collectively known as El Malecón. These parks offer stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and are excellent places for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. Some of the most famous sections of El Malecón include Parque del Amor (Love Park) and Parque Antonio Raimondi.
  3. Parque Nacional Huascarán: While not in Lima itself, Parque Nacional Huascarán is located a bit further to the north in the Ancash region, and it is Peru’s largest national park. This protected area is home to the stunning Andes Mountains, including the highest peak in Peru, Huascarán. It is a popular destination for trekkers and nature enthusiasts, offering a wide range of outdoor activities, such as hiking and wildlife observation.
  4. Pantanos de Villa Wildlife Refuge: Located in the district of Chorrillos, the Pantanos de Villa is a coastal wetland area that serves as a haven for various bird species and wildlife. It is an essential stop for birdwatchers, as it hosts a wide variety of waterfowl, including herons, flamingos, and ibises. There are walking trails and observation points for visitors to explore this unique ecosystem.
  5. Reserva Nacional Lomas de Lachay: Situated to the north of Lima, in the province of Huaura, Lomas de Lachay is a protected natural reserve known for its unique desert fog oasis ecosystem. The park is home to a variety of plant and animal species adapted to the arid coastal environment. It’s a great place for hiking, birdwatching, and taking in the scenic beauty of the coastal hills and valleys.
