  1. Central District:

    • It’s known for its proximity to the Kostroma Airport and Kostroma’s industrial facilities.
    • The area may be less tourist-oriented and more focused on local life.
  4. Zavolzhsky District:
    • This district is located on the other side of the Volga River, to the northeast of the central district.
    • It is mainly residential, with a mix of apartment buildings and private houses.
    • Zavolzhsky has its own commercial and recreational areas and offers a different perspective of the city from across the river.
  5. Other Neighborhoods:
    • Kostroma has several other smaller neighborhoods and suburbs, each with its own unique character.
    • The city’s riverfront areas are popular for their scenic views and recreational activities.
    • Some neighborhoods have historic sites, while others are more modern and developed.

Kostroma, in general, is known for its rich history and cultural heritage. It’s famous for being one of the Golden Ring cities of Russia, a group of historically significant cities northeast of Moscow. Visitors can explore its well-preserved architecture, museums, and cultural events. The city also has a strong connection to the Russian Orthodox Church, with many churches and monasteries to explore.
