Simferopol is a city located on the Crimean Peninsula, which is internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. However, as of my last knowledge update in September 2021, the status of Crimea is a subject of dispute. In 2014, Russia controversially annexed Crimea, a move that was widely condemned by the international community. Ukraine and most of the world do not recognize Crimea as part of Russia and continue to assert their sovereignty over the region.
