The city of Las Vegas, located in the western United States of America and is the administrative, financial and cultural center of the state of Nevada, has gained worldwide fame as the capital of entertainment and gambling. Fashionable hotels, luxury casinos, in which coins ring and bills rustle around the clock, an abundance of large shopping centers and prestigious boutiques, and, most importantly, an amazing atmosphere and the opportunity to plunge into various kinds of fun at every corner, attract millions of guests from all over the world to Las Vegas every year - both residents of the American outback and wealthy tourists from Europe and Asia.

General information

The modern name of this area was given in 1829, when the Mexican Rafael Rivera found an oasis of artesian water in the desert, which turned out to be saving for him and other members of a trading caravan. In this regard, this territory was named "Las Vegas", that is, "fertile lands" in Spanish.

The settlement of Las Vegas was founded on May 15, 1905, the city status was assigned to it in 1911. In 1931, gambling was allowed on the territory of Nevada, which, according to the original plan, was supposed to fill the city budget for the construction of new schools, in addition, construction of the Hoover Dam complex was started at the same time, which eventually helped the city avoid economic disaster during the Great Depression, and the commissioned hydroelectric power plant provided the opportunity for the development of the city in the middle of the desert.

In the following decades, the number of players increased rapidly, as did the number of casinos, in the construction of which the mafia actively participated, whose representatives were the owners of the most luxurious establishments in the city. Since the second half of the XX century and up to now, casinos, now representing entire complexes with hotels, restaurants and other entertainment venues, are the main source of income in Las Vegas.

In addition, the city has hundreds of various boutiques, shopping centers, restaurants, attractions, strip clubs, golf clubs and museums, as well as dozens of other entertainment and cultural institutions.

Transport

The main urban public transport system in Las Vegas is the RTC Transit bus lines, represented by 51 routes. The main route, running under the number "Deuce", connects the Downtown station in the city center, in the northern part, and the South station, near Highway No. 215. It is serviced around the clock, with an interval of 5-8 minutes, and has stops near the largest casinos, in addition, it uses a double-decker bus with excellent visibility, thanks to which this route is very popular with tourists.

Most other routes operate from 6:00 to 23:00 - 24:00. The fare is $ 1.5 on a regular bus, $ 2.5 on a Deuce. A daily pass costs $ 8, for three days - $ 20.

There is also a monorail in Las Vegas that runs from the SLS Las Vegas Casino to the MGM Grand and stops near popular shopping malls and Las Vegas Strip casinos.
