The Principality of Monaco is located in Southern Europe, on a narrow strip of the Mediterranean Riviera coast about 10 km from the Franco-Italian border. From the land, the country is surrounded by the territory of France (Alpes-Maritimes department), in the south, it is washed by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The terrain is hilly, strongly dissected. The highest point of the country is the Mont-Agel rock (140 m.).
