Tel Aviv — Yafo  — United urban municipality in Israel on the Eastern coast of the Mediterranean sea, the second in Israel in terms of population (403,7 thousand — December 2009), the economic and cultural center of the country. It was formed in October 1949 by the merger of the relatively young city of Tel Aviv with the ancient city of Jaffa. Tel Aviv was originally founded as a Jewish suburb of Jaffa.

Tel Aviv Jaffa is the largest city and the business capital of Israel. It is at the same time a center of entertainment, culture, history and business, as well as a resort city on the Mediterranean coast.
